 A Brief History … Laguiole cutlery was first produced in 1829, in the small town of Laguiole in the Aveyron region of France. The range is handmade by craftsmen whose skills have been passed down for generations.
Dubost Colas Pradel was founded in 1920 by Pierre Dubost, a cutler's son and maker of the famous Laguiole knives. Production started in a small workshop which grew steadily thanks to the Pierre Dubost’s son Jean Dubost - whose name signs the flatware and kitchen knives lines.
The Laguiole knife has been crafted in the area of Thiers for over 200 years. Thiers has been the capital of French cutlery in the past 6 centuries. The bumble bee found on all Laguiole knives is one of the emblems of the region where they are made.
The range started out as folding pocket knives, the popularity of the brand rose in the late 20th Century leading to the development of table knives and other products. The range is made from high grade stainless steel (12/10), is stamped, ground and then polished with over 25 manual production stages. Quality is an integral part of the Jean Dubost Laguiole brand, achieved through thorough quality control and monitoring of each stage of production. This has resulted in providing customers which assurance and pleasure in using long-lasting high quality products.
