We have been very busy here at Malmaison over the past few weeks, with French class, photo shoots, styling jobs and the enjoyable task of finding new and exciting products for our customers (more on those wonderful events in our next email).
Today however, we are taking a break to celebrate Bastille Day with many other Francophiles from around the world. In this email we provide some information explaining this important French national holiday, as well as news of an exciting VIP prize draw and free shipping option for our gorgeous quilt range.
Bastille Day … A Brief Explanation
The Storming of the Bastille in Paris occurred on 14 July 1789. While the medieval fortress and prison known as the Bastille contained only seven prisoners, its fall was the flashpoint of the French Revolution and it subsequently became an icon of the French Republic. In France, Le quatorze juillet (14 July) is a public holiday, formally known as the Fête de la Fédération (Federation Holiday). It is usually called Bastille Day in English.
